Within last 15 days, total 7 ships have been reported to breach at Alang (Gujarat) in the month of Jul’16. There are total 3 vessels, carrying 28,272 LDT are waiting for breaching and one vessel is expected in near term.
In Jun’16, total 18 ships were arrived for demolition in Alang (Gujurat) against 30 ships in May’16.
In Indian domestic market, ship breaking prices are hovering in the range of INR 15,600-18,300/MT, registering price corrections of INR 100-500/MT in a week’s time. Meanwhile, imported scrap offers to India moved up by USD 5-10/MT however its trade is absent.
Global market price scenario
Minimal number of trade activities took place in global market this week. Bangladesh, Pakistan and Turkey remained absent for their Eid holidays and this was reflected in a total lack of concluded deals and even firm numbers reportedly emanating from these markets.
Shipbreaking prices in Bangladesh and Pakistan are assessed at USD 245/lt Ldt (-5) and USD 235/lt Ldt (-10) respectively for general cargo; registered fall in prices in both market.
