Indian imports of manganese ore fell by 10.5% in Jun’16 in comparison to May’16.
Manganese ore imports stood at 155,355 MT in Jun’16 which fell by 10.5% M-o-M. In May’16 manganese ore import stood at 173,639 MT.
The maximum imports of manganese ore was from South Africa with a total 85,930 MT in Jun’16 and in May’16 imports from South Africa was 87,020 MT. In Jun’16 the total imports from Australia was 27,056 MT which fell by 47.5% M-o-M in comparison to May’16. Manganese ore imports from Malaysia increased significantly in Jun’16 with a total quantity of 17,004 MT where as in May’16 a total of 2,617 MT was only imported.
In Q1 FY17 the total manganese ore imports was 540,464 MT and in Q4 FY16 the total manganese ore import stood at 469,847 MT.

Port Wise Manganese Ore Imports in India
The two major Indian ports where manganese ore was imported are Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. In Q1 FY17 a total of 308,949 MT manganese ore was imported to Kolkata port, where as, in Q4 FY16 a total of 214,370 MT was imported. The total manganese ore imports to Vishakhapatnam port in Q1 FY17 was 196,012 MT and in Q4 FY16 it stood at 137,327 MT.
