India: Technical bids for Odisha mineral block auctions to open on 14 May

  • Odisha set to auction 8 iron, manganese blocks
  • Technical, initial price offers to be sent in by 13 May

Odisha will open technical bids for 8 iron and manganese blocks from 11 am on 14 May, Wednesday.

In a notice by the state’s Directorate of Mines and Geology, it has been clarified that only one individual, with a duly issued letter of authorisation from the bidder and official ID proof, will be allowed to submit a technical bid.

The Directorate expects technical and initial price offers on or before 17:00 on 13 May 2025. While the technical bid and initial price offer are expected electronically, with the tender document, the physical copy of only the tender document is to be hand delivered to the Joint Director or designated officer of the Directorate, before the bid due date of the block. Bidders must not submit physical copies of their initial price offer, as doing so would lead to their bids being cancelled. The official notice has strongly advised bidders not to wait till the last minute, clarifying, “Bidders shall be responsible for any problem at the bidder’s end, like failure of electricity, loss of internet connection, any trouble with bidder’s computer, etc., which may inconvenience or prevent them from bidding in the e-auction.”

Tender documents for eight blocks were opened on 7 May 2025:

  • Koira Iron Ore Block
  • Roida-I Iron Ore and Manganese Block
  • Putulipani Iron ore block
  • Jalahuri Iron Ore and Manganese Block
  • Jhumka-Pathiriposhi West Iron ore Block
