- Products include alloy tubes, EC grade rods, wrought bars
- Medium, large enterprises required to comply by 1 Oct’25
The Indian government has introduced a new Quality Control Order (QCO) for aluminium and alloy products, effective 1 October 2025. The order mandates that key products, such as aluminium alloy tubes (including welded tubes for irrigation), electrical conductor (EC) grade rods, and wrought bars, must meet updated Indian standards and carry the BIS certification mark.
Compliance deadlines are phased as follows:
- Medium and large enterprises: 1 October 2025
- Small enterprises: 1 January 2026
- Micro enterprises:1 April 2026
Imported products for research and development are exempt. Small and micro enterprises are allowed to import non-compliant products until their respective deadlines.
This move aims to enhance product quality and safety and boost India’s global competitiveness in the aluminium sector.
