- IF mills’ rebar offers vary by INR 100-300/t d-o-d
- Billet prices increase by INR 50-500/t d-o-d
India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market witnessed mix sentiments prevailing today, as offers floated by the mills varied in the range of INR 50-500/tonne (t) d-o-d on 5 May, 2025.
Sponge iron offers fluctuated by INR 100-400/t. The highest increase of INR 400/t was seen in the Raipur sponge market whereas Bellary sponge witnessed a slight decrease of INR 100/t.
Moreover, billet offers edged up in the range of INR 50-500/t. The major price rise of INR 500/t was seen in Hyderabad billet market.
Also, rebar (Fe 500) offers varied in the range of INR 100-300/t across regions. Prices witnessed a major drop of INR 300/t in the Durgapur market.
Overall, the market noticed limited trading activities. Manufacturers have tried to increase prices but buyers are still showing resistance to go for bulk procurement and awaiting price clarity.
