China: Steel imports remain largely stable m-o-m in Mar’25

  • China imported 500,000 t of steel in Mar’25, largely stable against 498,000 t in Feb, according to data from the General Administration of Customs.
  • Subdued domestic demand and greater focus on exports weighed on import volumes.
  • Cumulative import volumes (Jan-Mar’25) dropped by 11.3% y-o-y to 1.55 mnt compared to 1.75 mnt in the same period last year.
