Global stainless steel production hits record peak in CY’24

According to the World Stainless Association (WSA), global stainless steel melt shop production touched 62.6 mnt in CY’24, marking a 7% y-o-y increase. This milestone represents the highest production ever recorded. The CAGR from 2015 to 2024 was recorded at 4.8%. China remained the largest producer, contributing 39.44 mnt, up from 36.67 mnt in CY’23. Following China, Asia (excluding China and South Korea) produced 7.32 mnt.
