Indian refineries announce pet coke prices for Apr’25; RIL skips pricing amid no supplies

  • Nayara, MRPL maintain last month’s offers
  • BPCL Bina hikes prices sharply by INR 853/t

Indian refineries have announced their pet coke prices for April 2025, mostly rolling them over from last month. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), however, did not declare any offers for this month, as it refrained from supplying to the merchant market.

RIL
RIL did not announce any pet coke prices for April, instead continuing to divert its entire production to its gasification units. Since March, the company has also been sourcing pet coke from IOCL’s Koyali refinery via rakes to meet its internal demand, effectively cutting off supply for external buyers.

Nayara Energy
Nayara Energy rolled over its pet coke prices from March, keeping offers at INR 14,930/tonne (t) ex-refinery. These prices are 12.4% higher y-o-y than INR 13,282/t in April 2024. Nayara has maintained premium pricing over RIL in recent months, capitalising on the absence of the latter’s supplies.

MRPL
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) maintained prices at INR 11,670/t for road and INR 11,370/t for rake/barge supplies. The price differential of INR 300/t continues, reflecting transport cost adjustments. These rates show a 17.3% y-o-y increase from INR 9,950/t in April 2024.

BPCL

Bina Refinery: BPCL Bina raised rail-supply prices by INR 853/t to INR 15,150/t. Road prices remain INR 50/t lower.

Kochi Refinery: A modest hike of INR 149/t was seen for rail supply, with prices now at INR 12,800/t. Kochi continues to have no road dispatch options.

Bina’s prices this month are INR 2,350/t higher than Kochi’s, widening from INR 1,646/t in March. In FY’25, Bina’s prices exceeded Kochi’s by INR 2,297/t on average.
