Indian DRI, billet, rebar update – 4 Apr

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices seen variation d-o-d on 4 April, 2025. Across markets, mills fluctuated their offers by INR 50-500/tonne (t) compared to the previous trading session.

Sponge iron offers fluctuated by INR 50-200/t d-o-d, with the sharpest hike of INR 200/t seen in the Chennai market.

Billet tags varied by INR 50-500/t d-o-d, with the steepest increase of INR 500/t noted in the Hyderabad cluster whereas the Mandi market saw prices declining by INR 100/t.

Rebar (Fe 500) offers increased by INR 100-400/t in major locations and the major hike in Delhi market by INR 400/t.

Today, lack of buying enquiries was seen amid increased prices. Only need-based procurements were recorded after bulk transactions over the past couple of days. However, mills faced lower selling pressure as they have future booking orders to fulfill. As per market participants, prices are likely to remain rangebound in the near term.
