Correction: Odisha Based Major Iron ore Miners Turn Active in Export Market

Odisha-based major miners are found actively moving low-grade iron ore cargos to East Coast ports.

SteelMint learned that Odisha-based miners are interested in exporting low-grade iron ore as the domestic market don’t have its consumption*.

Miners prefer to export cargos of low-grade ore by blending it to make a grade of Fe 57-58%. Miners also added Iron ore supply in the domestic market has improved due to which price are under pressure. However price have bottomed out as per the global price scenario.

On an average, there are 3-4 rakes loaded for export from Odisha region to either Haldia, Paradip or Dhamra Port on a daily basis. In June’16 (till 28 June’16), total 69 rakes had been loaded for Dhamra as well as Paradip Port. Rungta Mines loaded around 33 rakes for Dhamra Port and 19 rakes for Paradip Port till 28 June’16.

Trade sources confirmed that Rungta Mines last traded cargo of low-grade Fe 57% were at USD 39/MT, CFR. There are approximately 3-4 vessel which Odisha-based miners are expected to load in July’16 month which includes Rungta and others miners vessels.
