Indonesia's Bukit Asam look for India market over falling Chinese demand

PT Bukit Asam will “switch” some coal exports from China to India as Chinese demand is falling while Indian demand is rising, Chief Executive Officer Mulawarman told reporters Monday. He didn't elaborate on the rise in Indian demand.

The coal it will “switch” to India is part of the 20% of its total output it usually sells in the spot market.

Mr. Mulawarman said 80% of its coal sales is on contract basis.

He expects rising Indian demand will help support coal prices.
