Anthracite Coal Import Offers Stable; Grim Atmosphere Continues

Grim atmosphere continues to prevail in the Indian Anthracite coal market. The market outlook is bleak.

Import offers have remained stagnant. According to a reputed importer, import offers from Russia have remained at around USD 94/MT CFR India.

Import affinity among buyers in the country is at the lowest as cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal are available.

IMPORTS

During the 1-18 Jun’16 period, 130,900 MT of Anthracite coal was imported into India, according to data compiled by SteelMint Research. The importers were: Arya Iron, Jindal Steel and Power Limited and Rashmi Metaliks.
