India: Melting scrap prices rise by INR 200/t d-o-d in Alang

Ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market rose by INR 200/t on 20 Mar’25, as per BigMint’s assessment. Prices of HMS (80:20) stood at INR 34,000/t ($394/t) ex-yard. Semi-finished and finished steel prices increased by INR 500-700/t, and decent trading in scrap was observed. This encouraged scrap suppliers to raise their offers.
