Indian DRI, billet, rebar update – 18 Mar

  • Mills lift offers by INR 100-400/t
  • Trade activity remains moderate

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices increased d-o-d on 18 March 2025. Across markets, mills raised their offers by INR 100-400/tonne (t) compared to the previous trading session.

Sponge iron prices rose by INR 100-250/t d-o-d, with the highest increase seen in the Raigarh market except in Hyderabad market where prices inch down by INR 100/t.

Billet tags increased by INR 100-300/t d-o-d, with the steepest hike seen in the Hyderabad, Mumbai and Raigarh regions.

Rebar (Fe 500) offers climbed up by INR 100-400/t d-o-d, with the sharpest rise witnessed in the Raigarh and Raipur clusters.

Today, the market witnessed positive price movements, majorly in the finished steel segment, though the extent varied location-wise. However, trading activity was relatively moderate. As per market participants, prices will remain supported in the near term.
