Indian Billet Offers Gain after Continuous Downfall

After continuous fall in domestic billet offers, today market has opened with a price rise of INR 100-500/MT against last day (Saturday) trade.

Increase in inquiries has somehow supported billet offers, mentioned market participants.

Trade Highlights

1.Durgapur and Rourkela is continuously trading billet to Gobindgarh (Punjab). Few deals were concluded on Saturday from Durgapur at INR 20,500/MT (ex-plant). Freight to Gobindgarh from Durgapur is INR 2,400/MT and from Rourkela is INR 3,400/MT via road.
2.Continuous power cut in Raipur during night hours in industrial areas has been affecting ingot/billet production since a week.
3.Following price rise in central & east India, billet offers in south market have also gained by INR 200/MT in today’s opening trade.
4.Since few weeks, Mumbai (Maharashtra) based manufacturers are mostly purchasing billet from Silvasa (Gujarat). Now, the supply crunch from Silvasa has created billet shortage in the market, which in turn is supporting billet prices across Maharashtra, reported mill operators.
