India imported about 549,000 MT of ferrous scrap in May’15. Two of the major western ports viz. Kandla and Mundra ports were among the top five scrap importing ports in India.
Total scrap import at Kandla Port in May’16 down by 20% and recorded at about 24,483 MT. While, import at Mundra port dipped steeply by 12% and assessed at 18,108 MT on a monthly premises.
Meanwhile, the total ferrous scrap import to India in 2016 (Jan-May’16) has touched 2.9 MnT.
