Indian Anthracite Coal Market Remains Sluggish; Import Offers Stable

The Anthracite coal market in India has remained lackluster due to availability of cheaper alternate fuels.

MARKET TREND

Lackluster atmosphere continues to prevail in the country’s Anthracite coal market as end-users prefer cheaper alternate fuels over the coal variant.

Import offers have remained unchanged from that assessed last. According to a reputed importer, import offers from Russia have remained at around USD 94/MT CFR India.

Demand for the coal variant has been eroded by the availability of cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal.
