Chinese steel billet prices remain flat amid weak market sentiments

Steel billet prices in China’s Tangshan remained unchanged at RMB 3,040/t ($416/t) on 2 Jan’25 against 31 Dec. Prices include 13% VAT.
Rising inventories amid weak demand and volatility in rebar futures have put pressure on billet prices.
Meanwhile, SHFE rebar futures (May’25 delivery) remained largely stable at RMB 3,306/t ($453/t) on 2 Jan against 31 Dec.
