Well known Odisha-based pellet maker, Brahmani River Pellets (BRPL), exported high-grade pellets (Fe 63%) to China.
A vessel named “E.R. Bergamo” carrying 54,350 MT pellets left Paradip Port on 18 May’16. The vessel will be unloading at Qingdao Port in China.
According to sources, the deal had been concluded at around USD 66/MT, FoB Paradip Port and at USD 72/MT, CFR China. The vessel freight from India to China comes around USD 6/MT.
Last month, the pellet maker exported around 54,000 MT pellet to China from Paradip Port in a vessel named “Darya Lakshmi”. According to sources, the deal had been tentatively concluded at USD 63/MT FoB, Paradip.
East India based pellet manufacturers are focusing more on export orders. BRPL, having installed capacity of 4 MnT pa pellet plant, supplied not even a single rake in May’16 (till 25 May’16) in the domestic market. However, the pellet maker supplied only 6 rakes (around 23,100 MT pellets) in Apr’16. As pellet buying in domestic market continued to remain weak amid limited buying interest, BRPL is now focusing more on exports rather than supplying material in the domestic market.
