Environment Ministry Recommends Forest Clearance to SCCL

A higher level panel of Indian Environment Ministry has recommended to grant forest clearance for SCCL’s diversification project in Andhra Pradesh.

Post request of Andhra Pradesh government, the FAC (Forest Advisory Committee) has recommended to grant the environmental clearance for 776.20 hectares of forest land in Lankapalli reserve forest of Khammam division, in favor of SCCL for its JVR OC (Opencast) coal mining project.

Including diversion of total forest land subject to general and special condition is also applicable for 565.66 hectares stage-I clearance, which is under supervision.

Also, recommended by the FAC that any of the special conditions imposed while recommending 565.64 hectare and 210.54 hectare separately would continue to be valid. The diversion area of 210.54 hectare would be only used for OB dump (Overburden Dump) recovery and handing. Also, that will be done under 10 years.

SCCL is planning to introduce 10 new projects in FY17, which are proposed to be opened in Bellampally, Koyagudem and Manuguru areas among others. The production from these mines is expected to be 13 MnT pa.
