Sluggish atmosphere continues to prevail in the Indian Anthracite coal market.
Availability of cheaper alternate fuels has restricted end-users from importing the fuel.
In the meantime, import offers also have remained stable. Import offers have not undergone any change from the rates assessed last. According to a reputed importer, import offers from Russia have remained at around $96/MT CFR India.

Availability of cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal, has eroded demand for the relatively costlier Anthracite coal.
IMPORTS
During May’16, no import consignment has landed at any Indian port (upto the 11th of the month), according to SteelMint Research.
Imports into the country have been falling on account of the lackluster demand.
