India’s ship-breaking melting scrap prices in Gujarat’s Alang market rose INR 200/t d-o-d on 4 Dec’24, as per BigMint’s assessment. HMS (80:20) stood at INR 34,500/t ($408/t) exy. Robust trade in the semi-finished and finished steel sectors during yesterday’s session led to an uptick in scrap activity. This, along with decent inquiries for scrap from Bhavnagar-based mills, prompted suppliers to raise their offers today.
