Ministry of Mines, government of India will hold an all-state meeting in Jaipur on 27 May’16. In a recently published notification, all the ministers in charge of mining department of all state governments have been called by Honorable Union Minister of Mines-Mr. Narendra Singh Tomar for a meeting to discuss the key issues pertaining to mining sector.
Some of the agenda to be discussed in the meeting are as follows:
- Mine block auction-The identification and preparedness of mine blocks for auctions will be discussed.
- Setting up of DMF-The status of collection of money accrued in the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds by the state govt. and its utilization will be discussed.
- NMET-The status of collection and transfer of money accrued in National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET) will be discussed.
- Curbing illegal mining-A ‘Mining Surveillance System’ (MSS) for major minerals is being developed to curb the incidences of illegal mining with the use of space technology. The state governments have been requested to provide the available digitised lease-wise information for all major mineral leases in their state for expediting the development of MSS.
