Indian govt implies quality standards on Billets; little impact seen

In an amendment issued by the Indian steel ministry on
the 11th of September regarding implication of quality standards (Bureau of Indian Standards), it makes all billet/bloom/slab/ingot manufacturers falling under grade 2830 mandatory to get certified by BIS.

Its impact has been too little and most of the mills are running without it. “There are more than 70% of small mills not having BIS registrations. Though, many of them have applied but they have not been certified yet”, said sources.
