China: Steel billet imports fall 40% y-o-y in Jan-Oct’24

China’s steel billet imports fell by 40% y-o-y to 1.18 mnt in Jan-Oct’24 as against 1.95 mnt in the year-ago period, as per customs data maintained with BigMint.
Preference for exports, coupled with weak domestic demand, weighed on imports.
Russia emerged as the largest exporter with 439,831 t, followed by Oman with 375,184 t.
