On 16 Apr’16, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) floated a global tender for the export of prime mild steel hot rolled plates of 5,000-10,000 MT quantity.
As per market sources, the company has received bids for the same at USD 425/MT, FoB Vizag basis. However, contract is yet to be signed by the parties.
The export material will be of ASTM A36 grade or equivalent, ship building quality with size ranging between 10-63 mm. Bids for the same were opened from 16 Apr’16 till 25 Apr’16.
On closure of deal with the concerned party, the shipping of the material will commence from 30 Jun’16.
Last month on 11 Mar’16, SAIL floated global tender for the export of 10,000 MT HR plates of ASTM A36 grade or equivalent material. However, the company failed to receive response for the tender as it didn’t receive expected price quotation of USD 400/MT from the interested parties.
Indian plates prices of commercial grade (base size 16-20 mm) are currently assessed at INR 30,000 (ex-works basis). Chinese plates export offers are heard to be in the range of USD 425-430/MT, FoB China.
