Anthracite coal offers have moved up by around USD 2/MT due to supply issues.
But, the increment will bother Indian buyers the least as import affinity among them is at the lowest.
According to a reputed importer, the recent offers have gone up to USD 97/MT, CFR India.
The Indian market has been sustaining dull demand for Anthracite coal as buyers preferred cheaper alternate fuels, like Petcoke and other forms of coal.
Import has also remained low as a result of sluggish demand. During the current month, 71,000 MT of Anthracite coal was imported (upto 24Apr’16), according to SteelMint Research.
The quantity was imported by three buyers viz Sree Kalahasti Pipes, Bhusan Steel Limited and Electrosteel, with the respective quantities of 11,000 MT, 38,000 MT and 22,000 MT.
