Indian Iron Ore Importers Turn Resistive over Sharp Hike in Global Prices

Sharp hike in global iron ore prices has made imported iron ore offers dearer. Seaborne iron ore prices in China have gained USD 11/MT on monthly premises.

A west India based market participant shared that offers for imported South African lump have increased sharply and are not less than USD 85/MT, CFR India.

Importers have turned silent over sudden rise in prices and as per market sources no fresh import shipments are expected to arrive in the next 1-2 months.

Spot iron lump premium is assesed at USD 0.2075/DMT, CFR China, up by 14% against its previous assesment of USD 0.1825/DMT, CFR China.

Jindal SAW raises domestic pellet prices-

West India based pellet manufacturer – Jindal SAW has raised pellet prices. Current prices for Fe 63% pellets are at INR 4,700/MT (ex-Bhilwara) and for Fe 65% pellets they are at INR 5,000/MT (ex-Bhilwara).
