In last 15 days, total 12 ships have been reported to breach at Alang (Gujarat) in the month of Apr’16. There are total 8 vessels, carrying 69,237 LDT are waiting for breaching and about 4 vessels are expected to arrive in this month.
In Mar’16, total 34 ships had arrived for demolition in Alang (Gujurat) and the record high 50 ships had breached in Feb’16.
Price scenario
In global market, prices in sub-continent during week 14 continued to rise throughout last week, with improvement in sales. Demolition prices in Bangladesh and Pakistan are assessed at USD 280/lt Ldt and USD 285/lt Ldt respectively for general cargo.
Meanwhile in Indian domestic market, ship breaking prices are hovering in the range of INR 16,900-20,300/MT.
