Japan: Tokyo Steel further trims scrap procurement prices by up to $7/t

Japan’s Tokyo Steel announced its ninth consecutive cut in domestic scrap procurement prices, reducing rates by up to JPY 1,000/t ($7/t) across all plants, effective 27 Sep ’24. The total decline for Sep’24 stands at JPY 5,500-6,500/t ($38-45/t).

Current H2 prices

• Okayama, Kyushu plants: JPY 40,500/t ($279/t)
• Kansai, Takamatsu plants: JPY 39,500/t ($272/t)
• Nagoya, Utsunomiya plants: JPY 38,500/t ($266/t)
• Tahara plant: JPY 40,000/t ($276/t)
