World crude steel production drops y-o-y in Aug’24: WSA

The World Steel Association (WSA) has revealed that crude steel production of the 71 countries that report to it dropped 6.5% y-o-y to 144.8 mnt in Aug’24. Additionally, production volumes fell 5% m-o-m against 152.8 mnt in Jul’24.

• China’s output declined by 10.4% y-o-y to 77.9 mnt.
• India’s production went up by 2.6% y-o-y to 12.3 mnt.
• Japan’s production dropped by 3.9% y-o-y to 6.9 mnt.
