China: Steel billet imports fall over 65% m-o-m in Aug’24

China’s steel billet imports decreased by 67% m-o-m to 61,739 t in Aug’24 compared to 189,935 t in Jul’24, as per customs data maintained with BigMint.
Oman emerged as the largest exporter with 44,998 t, followed by Japan with 14,218 t.
Cumulative import volumes (Jan-Aug’24) fell 23% y-o-y to 1.09 mnt as compared to 1.42 mnt in the year-ago period.
