In Aug’24, Taiwan’s ferrous scrap imports remained range-bound, touching 200,790 t, up marginally by 1% m-o-m from 198,000 t in Jul’24. Compared to Aug’23 (204,977 t), imports dropped by 2% y-o-y.
In 8MCY’24, total scrap imports decreased by 10% y-o-y, totalling 1.88 mnt compared to 2.09 mnt in Jan-Aug’23.
The US continued to be the top supplier, with nearly 50% of the total volume, followed by Japan, Canada, and the Dominican Republic.
