China: Steel imports fall by 12% m-o-m in Jul’24

China’s steel imports fell by 12% m-o-m to 510,000 t in Jul’24 as against 580,000 t in Jun, according to General Administration of Customs data.
Weak domestic market sentiments aggravated by heavy rains and heatwaves weighed on steel imports.
Cumulative import volumes (Jan-Jul’24) dipped 7% y-o-y to 4.12 mnt compared to 4.42 mnt in the same period of last year.
