India, the 2nd biggest non-coking coal shipper around the globe, imported 12.5 MnT of Non-coking coal in the month. Imports fell by 16% but rose by 40% from South Africa.
Mounting indigenous coal generation has affected non-coking import to India significantly. The nation unlike the most recent month has imported 12.5 MnT of coal in the 2nd last month of FY16. Non-coking imports fell by 16% against the previous month and by 12.5% against last fiscal.

Major discharging ports in Feb’16
Total imported non-coking coal traded in WCI was about 6.6 MnT and rest 5.7 MnT arrived in the ECI. Krishnapatnam and Mundraports were the significant destinations for holding non-coking coal import for the month. They got about 1.6 MnT and 1.5 MnT of non-coking coal in Feb’16 against 1.3 MnT and 3.3 MnT in Jan’16 individually. The amount arrived at Mundra port declined by 9% in the month.
Principle Non-coking coal exporters in Feb’16
Indonesia and South Africa were the major exporters of Non-coking coal to India for the month. Indonesia exported about 7.4 MnT of non-coking coal, enlisting a huge fall of 27% against the preceding month. In the interim, South Africa traded about 3.9 MnT of Non-coking coal; up by 40% in the span.

Indian coal imports have fallen because of the blended trading sentiments, winning in domestic and worldwide coal business sector. Depreciating Indian currency against USD and Indian budget declaration in March had limited purchasers from international trading.
