Lukewarm demand from buyers forces OMC to sell chrome ore at base price in the e-auction held on 23 Feb’16. While the price of +54 grade friable chrome ore of South-Kaliapani mines has fetched H1 price at INR 8,982 which was INR 8,998 in January round of e-auction. The 52-54 grade has fetched a price of INR 8,649 against INR 8,669 in January. The 48-50 grade has witnessed a small increase to INR 6,494 against INR 6,432 in January. The price of same grade at Sukrungi has fetched H1 price of INR 6332.
OMC has offered total 42,900 MT of chrome ore out of which 39,100 MT are friable and 3,800 MT are Concentrate ore. The materials (friable) will be available at OMC’s SouthKaliapani and Sukrungi Chrome mines in Sukinda and concentrate ore will be available at COB plant at Kaliapani. For this e-auction OMC has made a slight increment in the base price.
In the January round of chrome ore e-auction OMC had cut base price up to 12 % and in December up to 27%.
