Pakistan: Ferrous scrap imports surge over 60% y-o-y in H1CY’24

In H1 CY24, Pakistan imported 1.38 mnt of ferrous scrap, a substantial 64% increase from 0.84 mnt in the CPLY.
The UK and UAE continue to be a major source, of Pakistan’s scrap imports.
On a m-o-m basis, imports fell by 14% to 216,809 t in June from 250,734 t in May 2024.
Market participants indicate that the UK, UAE, and other Middle East countries contribute around 90-95% of the total import volume.
