India: Copper cathode imports rise over 30% m-o-m in May’24

India’s copper cathode imports rose 31% m-o-m to 35,000 tonnes (t) in May’24 from 26,880 t in Apr’24. Meanwhile, there was 35% growth y-o-y from 26,000 t in May’23. Semi-finished imports totalled 58,000 t in May’24, up by 16.5% m-o-m, with copper cathode comprising 61%. Domestic copper cathode production fell 27% from 44,000 t in Apr’24 to 32,000 t in May’24, leading to increased imports.
