Odisha Iron Ore Production Up by 26% in Jan’16

Odisha iron ore production has witnessed a sharp increase of 26% M-o-M in Jan’16 and was recorded at 7.26 MnT. In Dec’15 Odisha produced 5.74 MnT iron ore.

Among the merchant miners, Rungta Mines remained the largest iron ore producer at 1.4 MnT followed by AMTC mines (0.81 MnT) and Serajuddin Mines (0.61 MnT).

AMTC mines resumed iron ore sales in end of Dec’15 following which it began fresh mining. Towards the end of Jan’16, Odisha government stopped sale & dispatch of iron ore and also temporarily held up the mining permit of its Balda iron ore mines in the Joda mining circle for producing iron ore below the fixed annual limit.

Iron ore production of Odisha Mining Corporation increased by around 47% M-o-M to 0.63 MnT in Jan’16.

Talking about captive mines, Tata Steel’s iron ore production was recorded at 0.81 MnT and SAIL was recorded at 0.5 MnT.
