Billet exports from Turkey marked a historical increase in August 2012

“Turkey exported 505,708 tons of Billet across the globe in August 2012, which is more than double of what was exported in July 2012 (226,464 tons) and July 2011 (243,634)”, according to data of Turkish Statistical Institute.

Exports from Turkey in August 2012 earned USD 298 million, that was (USD 136.3 million) in July 2012 and (USD 243.6 million) in August 2011. Exports prices reduced from the mid of May to July 2012 and increased in the mid of August, with slight corrections.

In January to August 2012, Billet exports increased by 23.1% to 2.04 million tons. Revenue earned was USD 1.2 billion. Both exports and revenue was up by 18% in comparison to January to August 2011.

Exports to Saudi Arabia tripled in January to August 2012. Whereas, it decreased by 50.8% and 31.4% to Egypt and UAE respectively, as compared to January to August 2011.
