Indian Chrome Ore Production Increased by 5.5% in Jan’16

Production of chrome and chrome concentrates increased by 5.5% in Jan’16 in comparison to Dec’15.

Odisha contributes to around 98% of the total chrome ore produced in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha increased by 5.5% and stood at 398,199 MT in Jan’16. In Dec’15, chrome ore production was 377,195 MT.

Captive miners in Jan’16 have decreased production by almost 17% M-o-M with IMFA reducing production by over 61.5%. However, merchant miners in Jan’16 have increased production by 18.1% M-o-M, mainly contributed by OMC and Tata Steel.
