Vietnam coal imports surge 40% in H1 CY’24

Vietnam’s coal (coking, non-coking and met coke) imports rose by 40% y-o-y in H1 CY’24 to 27.3 mnt against 19.4 mnt in H1 CY’23, as per data collated by BigMint.
Indonesia emerged as the major exporter at 11.4 mnt followed by Australia at 7.9 mnt.
Vietnam’s crude steel output rose 20% in 5M CY24, boosting the country’s coal imports.
