The Coal Ministry has passed an enjoin for distribution of Talabira II and III coal mines in Odisha to NLC, keeping in mind the end goal to meet coal necessities for the NLC’s and its ventures.
Centre has decided to allocate coal blocks in Odisha under the control of Neyveli Lignite Corporation, which is hoping to increase its electricity generation using dry fuel.
With these mines, NLC will be capable to meet its coal prerequisites of its venture organizations.

In an interview to CNBC –TV18, Chairman, Neyveli Lignite Corp. Shri S.K Acharya said, “These two mines Talabira II and III will give us something about 31.5 MnT pa, which will be sufficient to meet their coal prerequisite without depending on any import. Moreover, extracting coal from these mines will cut their expense by upto 20-25%.”
