Pakistan’s thermal coal imports rise sharply y-o-y in Jan-Jun’24

Pakistan’s thermal coal import volumes rose significantly by 93% y-o-y to 3.23 mnt in H1CY’24 (Jan-Jun’24) compared to 1.67 mnt in H1CY’23, as per customs data.
South Africa emerged as the major exporter with 1.85 mnt followed by Indonesia with 780,000 t.
However, thermal coal imports decreased by 62% m-o-m to 230,000 t in Jun compared to 600,000 t in May.
