Indian secondary steel manufacturers will face pressure on new BIS norms- Tata Steel

Tata Steel Vice President for long products Bhimsendra Jha said on the World Steel Association conference in New Delhi on Thursday that secondary steel producers will face pressure on maintaining new standard norms (BIS) by Indian government.

Long steel production in India is majorly produced by induction furnace-based technology and it holds over 50% of steel production in India.

With standard norms it will be difficult for secondary steel manufacturers to maintain that quality and most of plants will be not viable in long run.

Indian government on 12 Sep 2012 had imposed that all steel manufacturers have to produce quality which should match BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) quality.
