China: Ferrous scrap imports down by 16% m-o-m in May’24

China’s ferrous scrap imports have dropped by 16% m-o-m from 17,892 tonnes (t) reported in Apr’24 to 15,043 t in May’24. However, y-o-y imports are down by 6% as against 15,965 t in May’23. Japan remained the leading exporter at 9,532 t followed by South Korea and Myanmar at 2,463 t and 1,220 t respectively. For the first five months of this year, total scrap imports reached 78,758 t.
