The rupee again breached the 68-mark today as it fell by 18 paise against the USD currency as demand for dollar from banks and importers gathered pace amid bearish local equities.
The domestic unit hovered in a range of 68.36 and 67.91 per dollar . The dollar index was down by 0.10 per cent at 95.73 against a basket of six currencies in the Asian trade.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex close lower by 807 points at 22,952 at 16:00 hrs.
Global Analyst said “The USD-INR pair should continue to trade in a 67.50-68.50/dollar range, with some depreciating bias amid this risk-off environment. Support is expected at lower levels,”
