China’s coal imports rise 13% y-o-y in Jan-May’24

From Jan-May’24, China imported 204.969 mnt of coal, an increase of 12.6% y-o-y. According to data from the General Administration of Customs. Lower domestic output this year have resulted in increased imports. Industrial raw coal production in Jan-Apr’24 stood at 1,480 mnt, marking a 3.5% m-o-m decline. However, imports dropped 3.2% m-o-m to 43.82 mnt in May’24, compared to 45.25 mnt in Apr’24.
