Bangladesh’s total scrap imports stood at 420,687 t in April, down by 4% m-o-m. Out of which, bulk ferrous scrap imports stood at 223,991 t in Apr’24, down by 28% in comparison with 313,124 t in Mar’24. Similarly, on y-o-y, imports registered a fall of 17% as against 269,196 t seen in Apr’23. The US remained the leading exporter of scrap at 128,693 t, followed by Australia at 30,401 t and Indonesia at 30,000 t. In Jan-Apr’24, scrap imports aggregated to 920,061 t, up by 28% compared to 718,878 t in the CPLY.
