Bhubaneswar: Transportation of minerals is likely to be affected at the Joda area today, after the trucker’s decision to stop transportation of minerals from the mining area. The truckers are protesting the government’s orders for capping transportation cost of mineral transportation through road.
The Joda Mining Area Truckers Association has declared the strike after a meeting last evening. Terming the new rates are not feasible and favoring only the miners and the user industry, the Association has urged the state government to reconsider the decision.
Stating the new transportation rates to be not feasible, a transporter shared that the rates should be made back to the previous one.
It may be noted that, with a view to streamline the mineral evacuation process and bring down the high cost of transportation, the Odisha government last year has decided to enforce ceiling price of mineral transport through road. However, the Joda Area Truck Owners Association and Joda mining Area Truck Owners Association had moved the Odisha High Court against the decision.
